An Angel Came…

On June 28, 2005, a cute little angel was given to me by God. I named her Zarelle Glen Dorothy. Zarelle from her dad’s and my names combined, Glen from Glenn Reyes Borra, my bestfriend and bridge for me and her daddy’s meet up, who is now in heaven watching over us. And of course, Dorothy which means “Gift from God”… I could not ask for more as I am blessed with an intelligent, sweet and “mature” child. I have always mentioned that she is 3 previously, now 4, but she thinks like a 40 year old…

My parents gave her a birthday lunch at home with all our relatives from the Aguilar clan. She was happy. I am giving her a kiddie party since she requested for it but it will be next weekend yet as I am quite full this week. She never argued about it nor complained, she just said it’s okay and she is excited. Anyway, here is a slide show of that simple lunch birthday…

I am grateful for my parent’s love for Lili… I know she will grow up happy as she is surrounded by loving people in my family.. No expectations from those who do not want to be part of our lives.. That’s just how to go about it… But over all, Lili and I will live a happy life together with the loving people around us… I am positive about that…

Baby Sign Language

Calling all Mommy Bloggers...

Have you heard the latest in signing? Well, if you are a SPED advocate, you will be interested in this breakthrough. I couldn’t quite believe that there is now such a thing as Baby Sign Language. This however is for hearing babies whose parents want them to be able to communicate even before they could talk… This is done with the help of “Toddler Interpreter®”, which uses easy to remember natural gestures to communicate before baby can talk. By using Baby Sign Language mothers can begin communication with babies or toddlers earlier. A mother can give her child a head start with speech development, which eventually resolves the frustrations of the terrible twos. It can stimulate brain activity and increase the baby’s IQ. Plus the fact that with this product, mommy can bond with baby through two way communication.

Fact of the matter is that Baby Sign Language encourages the baby to talk sooner. And the Toddler Interpreter® is perhaps the only Baby Sign Language program that can provide the most relevant signs to teach the baby first. It comes in full colour, with simple step by step guide to learning Baby Sign Language, which are broken down into 5 easy learning stages.

Calling all Mommy Bloggers...

Had I known about this when Zarelle was younger, I am pretty sure I would get one for her sake. This is highly recommended. I don’t think there is ever a mom out there who would not want her son or daughter to develop speech and reading as early as the toddler years…

Lessons From The Dead Bird..

This morning, my little girl saw this dead bird on the terrace floor. She called me immediately and pointed at it with teary eyes. She said she pitied the bird. Then she changed the tone of her voice, speaking in a quite distinct adult like manner, as she explained to me that what happened to the bird is similar to the story Teacher Marissa told them in class. So I asked her to tell me what the story was and she started recounting about a mommy bird with three little birdies who mommy birdie told not to go anywhere else but stay right at their nest. Unfortunately for one of them who disobeyed mommy birdie, went out the nest and hurt itself. So I asked her if the action of the little birdie was good or bad. And she told me it is not good not to listen to mommy birdie. I told her that children should always listen to their mommies because mommies love their kids and would not want them to get hurt or hurt others. She listened intently, looked me in the eye and asked me about the dead bird on the floor. I didn’t know what to say except that the ants will benefit from it now that it’s dead. She then told me we should bury the birdie… and so we did. The funny part was when Zarelle got a candle and a lighter from the altar (has easy access for her) and told me we should pray so the bird will go to birdie heaven… hmm.. I do not know where she got this idea… Such wisdom from a three year old soon to turn four K1 student…
