The Christmas spirit is finally waning. It’s back to work, back to school for all of us here in our house. Before my sister arrived, I was excited to get the personalized duffle bag or the laundry bag she promised. Instead, she got me a new cellular phone, a Nokia 2700 Classic and unlimited call and text with a Sun Cellular number.. What could be better than that? Wink..wink..
As for Lili, I was expecting a new insulated lunch tote, but she gave her her Butterfly Fairy Accessories Set.. Ohlala… Thanks Honey dear…
Anyway, like what I said, Christmas and New Year came as swiftly as it did and now it’s back to reality. I know most of us are thankful for all that we have received from our loved ones or from our friends or from our partners. But what I am most thankful for above all gifts, is the chance of making it this far in this new year…
This new year symbolizes a lot of things that are meaningful to me. In the past, as much as admit or deny it, I had been pre-occupied with “my pain”, “my suffering”, “my downfall”… I thought of all the opportunities I missed and the screwed up, messed up situation that I saw and lived with… If there was one thing I learned in year 2009, it is learning to rise up from the fall. As in VDAY’s “Changing Pain to Power “, I have learned that I still have a beating heart that continues to beat, for myself, for my daughter and for the women in my community… So when it struck 12 as of January 1, 2010… I felt really good about myself. And I was thankful to the Lord for giving me the strength and the wisdom to see through it all.. Year 2009 was the year I rose up from the dead… Year 2010 is the year for me.. A new life, a new opportunity, a new dream to build, a new beginning…
So I am thankful for all our gifts.. The material as well as that beyond the material gifts…
